Wedding Year in Review – 2018-2019

2018 was so busy that before I knew it, it was 2019 and I needed a break. In taking that break I only photographed one wedding in 2019 so I’ve included it in the same Year in Review. As a photo editor, selecting a year in pictures collection is one of my most favorite projects. Not only does it give me an opportunity to reflect on my accomplishments over the past year, but it is an entirely different process than […]

Photographing a Beautiful Menu

One of my most favorite jobs as a photographer is when I get asked to to do menu and marketing images for a new restaurant. As a hobbyist epicure I love good-looking food just as much as I love good-tasting food. So being asked to photograph a professional chef’s creations allows me to be a professional foodie without having to open my own restaurant! What made this particular jobs even more exciting was that it was for the new restaurant […]

An Early Morning Montrose Wedding.

Brittany’s family home was abuzz with activity when I arrived early Saturday morning. Bridesmaids in matching robes frantically brushed each others hair and applied heavy coats of eyeshadow. Siblings zipped around the house collecting cufflinks, corsages and other wedding accessories. Cell phones buzzed and beeped with messages about last-minute details . All the while Brittany smiled calmly. She was more than confident about the man she was about to marry. Caleb and Brittany met through school sports when they were […]

Giving Gratitude to Palisade’s Migrant Farm Workers

For my first assignment for the Colorado Sun I was asked to photograph the town of Palisade’s annual Despedida, or farewell party for migrant workers from Mexico and Latin America. Palisade Colorado is famous for its peaches and is becoming a well-known viticulture area. The harvesting and cultivation of these and other crops rely on migrant labor. Hosted by Child and Migrant Services and an appreciative community, workers and their families gathered in the town park for an evening of […]

Furnished Family Home for Rent in Edwards, Colorado

Located minutes from Beaver Creek and Vail ski resorts, this fully-furnished family home is now available for rent on AirBnB and VRBO. This property was custom built and has been an owner-occupied residence and a long-term rental. It recently became a short term rental after the owners gave it an extensive facelift and complete modern furnishings. The home sits in a quiet neighborhood above the town of Edwards, Colorado. Delicious restaurants, interesting shops, a grocery store and a movie theater […]

Outdoor wedding on the Grand Mesa

Wyatt and Shelbi wanted an outdoor wedding that was all about them. They planned a low-key affair at Powderhorn Mountain Resort on Colorado’s Grand Mesa and put all the emphasis on having a beautiful, classy ceremony. It was very important to both of them that the event was sober until they left for the evening. Every detail was meticulously planned out and came together perfectly. The ceremony, held outside on a pleasant August afternoon, was perfect. Wyatt, Shelbi and I […]

Kristal and Jonathan’s Grand Junction Garden Wedding

I first met Kristal after an epic powder day in Telluride. I was looking for photography work and I clomped into the magazine offices where she was the lead designer. Telluride being a ski town, I saw no problem showing up to a business meeting in my ski boots. Fortunately, the editor and publisher of the magazine didn’t have a problem with that either and we had a very productive meeting that let to a long-lasting professional relationship. Over the […]

Palisade Wedding Planned

The thing that I love most about engagement sessions is that I get a chance to get to know the bride and groom before the wedding day. The setting is more relaxed and we can take our time and make some great photographs together. I got just that with Lauren and Mike. They will wed this fall at The Wine Country Inn in Palisade and I got to meet them at a mountain park near their home in Denver. Oh […]

2017 Weddings in Review

For my last “Wedding Photography Year in Review,” I chose to focus on the lesser seen moments during weddings. This year I want to expand on that to include some of the peripheral scenes and sub-plots that surround weddings. Weddings offer the perfect opportunities to observe new friends meeting for the first time, old friends reconnecting for the first time in a long time, or non-friends hanging out together. Your wedding may be the only time in history where all […]

Elegant Montrose Wedding

Ryan and Sierra had a very elegant weeding in Montrose and it was full of a lot of firsts for me as a wedding photographer. While I had worked with Cobble Creek Golf Club a lot in the past for commercial and editorial work, this was my first wedding. They did a great job shuttling guests and the wedding party from the clubhouse to the ceremony location overlooking the San Juan Mountains. The reception was held at The Lark and […]
