Brittany’s family home was abuzz with activity when I arrived early Saturday morning. Bridesmaids in matching robes frantically brushed each others hair and applied heavy coats of eyeshadow. For my first assignment for the Colorado Sun I was asked to photograph the town of Palisade’s annual Despedida, or farewell party for migrant workers from Mexico and Latin America. Palisade Colorado is famous for its peaches and is becoming a well-known viticulture area. The harvesting and cultivation of these and other crops rely on migrant labor. The thing that I love most about engagement sessions is that I get a chance to get to know the bride and groom before the wedding day.
