From the moment I met Sara and Drew I could tell that they were a fun and relaxed couple. They exuded good energy and I new that their western-themed wedding would be a great one!
I met Sara and her bridal party at Salon Envy in Ouray to take some photographs of them getting their hair done. I then followed them back to Sara’s family’s home where they, and the groomsmen were getting ready and having lunch and a few drinks. From there we headed to nearby Ridgway State Park for a reveal, couples portraits and some photos with the wedding party.
They held their ceremony at the park overlooking Ridgway Reservoir and the San Juan Mountains. It was officiated by Drew’s father, who also happened to be my eighth-grade English teacher from Moffatt County. It was a lot of fun to connect those dots in my head and to catch up with him.
After the ceremony we did a few more couples portraits around the visitors’ center and headed to the reception at the Turn of the Century Saloon in Montrose. This is a cool replica or a nineteenth century saloon that I have photographed in quite a bit over the years. Dinner was served, toasts were made and dances were danced. It certainly exceeded my expectations!
